Sounds random…but it’s a national day so we’re rolling with it – Happy National Bubble Bath Day!!!
I suppose this is the best time to have a chat with you all about self care and the importance of it.
Do you actually look after yourself?
I bet if you actually sit and think about it…you don’t actually look after yourself like you should and like you deserve.
Here are a few reasons why you won’t be looking after yourself…
1. You’re a woman – your naturally going to put others first before yourself because it’s in our nature to care for others (might be cliché but I think it’s true)
2. You’re a mother – you care for your children and family and forget about little old you.
3. You forget to because you’re so damn busy!
4. You don’t think you’re worthy of it – stop thinking this way right away!! You ARE worthy lovely!!
5. You think you are looking after yourself but you’re actually not.
So now we’ve settled that – right aren’t we?
We work damn hard ladies!! It’s imperative we look after ourselves!!
It’s easier said than done though – don’t get me wrong.
Okay so now that’s out in the open, what can you do now to start taking better care of yourself?
You might have to schedule the time into your diary to make sure you do it, because I know what some of you are like…if it’s not in the diary on on the ‘to do’ list, you won’t get it done.
Here are some of our suggestions…
So, firstly, take 10 minutes in an morning to implement some kind of skin care routine – I’m sure i’m not the only one who splashes a bit of warm water and soap on my face and still expects glowing skin?!
Run the bath once a week if you don’t already! Light the candles, put some relaxing music on & enjoy that peace and quiet.
Take yourself outdoors – fresh air is a great way to take a break from being inside (obviously haha!) but also to give you clarity. Being ‘at one’ with nature does you absolute wonders. Why not borrow someone’s dog for the afternoon?
Have you actually set time aside to do ‘nothing’…I know, i know, this sounds completely ALIEN to most of you as you’re all workaholics and mumaholics! BUT…doing nothing is soooo beneficial for you and your mind.
Do you read? Great mindfulness books can really help you with self care – looking after your mind is so so important. Head over to our website to our Library of suggestions.
Do you drink enough water? Help yourself feel more comfortable in general and aid your digestion – hydrating your body is a massive act of self care. Drinking water helps with concentration so you’ll be more of your best self when you are keeping hydrated.
Do you eat regular meals? Healthy meals? We’re not preaching and telling you to start a strict diets, we just know from experience it’s absolutely VITAL to make sure you’re looking after your insides too – gosh, this can really damage your productivity in work, in your relationships and as a person.
There are so many other ways you can learn to look after yourself more, but if you start with our suggestions, you will soon be making sure you’re booking that time out for ‘YOU’ more often!
Self care is the most important thing you can do for yourself. How can you expect to be the best for those you dedicate your time to when you’re not looking after you and your body?
